Angola Motor Speedway

Angola Motor Speedway

Angola Motor Speedway features a 3/8 mile, high-banked asphalt track set on 78 acres in eastern Steuben County. The restrooms, kitchens and stands have all undergone a complete renovation to help ensure the track is family-friendly. Enjoy the race from the comfortable grandstands or from one of the private luxury suites located in the tower.

Briali Vineyards and Winery

A strong dedication to environmental care and respect for nature led to the opening of Briali Vineyards in the fall of 2012. Owners Brian and Alicia began planting and nurturing 11 varieties of grapevines using biodynamic techniques, which is an advanced form of organic farming. Briali Vineyards and Winery is located on the gently rolling hills of Country Meadows Golf Course in Fremont, near the Indiana Toll Road. Winter hours are noon to 6 p.m. Friday-Sunday. Summer hours are seven days a week. Tasting is $5 for six one-ounce pours.

The Brokaw Movie House is a vintage 1931 first-run movie theater in downtown Angola. It has recently undergone major renovations which include two movie screens with digital projectors and surround sound, along with modern leather seating and tables.  Menu items include beer, wine, pizza, hot dogs, and nachos, as well as popcorn, candy, and fountain sodas.

Chapman's Brewing Company

Chapman's Brewing Company

Hand-crafted beers, including Southern English Brown Ale and Valiant American Stout, are produced on-site. They’re served in 16-ounce pint cans to reduce the company’s carbon footprint. The taproom is open seven days a week and different musical acts perform every Saturday night.

Pokagon State Park

Pokagon State Park

Pokagon State Park, nestled on the shores of Lake James, is a picturesque 1,260-acre park nestled in extreme northeast Indiana complete with hiking trails, beaches, an interpretive nature center, cross country skiing, boat rental and guided horse rides.

Pokagon is also home to the state's only refrigerated toboggan. Open weekends the day after Thanksgiving through the last weekend in February, the toboggan is a great family activity. Toboggans rent for $13 per hour and hold up to four people. Potawatomi Inn, the 138-room hotel, offers two restaurants, library, cabin suites, gift shop and indoor pool.

The newly-opened Trine State Recreation Area is also a part of Pokagon State Park. The 186 acres are steeped in natural and cultural history. No private boats are allowed but boat rentals are available. Fishing is allowed from rented boats or the pier. Easy to moderate trails offer hiking opportunities and when there's enough snow, a large sledding hill is open. Family cabins plus the Wild Turkey Shelter are available to rent. The entrance fee into Pokagon State Park is $7 per Indiana car and $9 per out-of-state car. 

 

Satek Winery

Since 2007, Satek Winery has won more than 100 medals at the annual Indy International Wine Competition, including Wine of the Year and Indiana-grown American Wine of the Year. Open since 2001, Satek specializes in dry white, dry red, semi-dry, semi-sweet, sweet fruit and sweet dessert wines. Free tours are given Saturday and Sunday at 12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Reservations are required by calling (260) 495-WINE. Free wine tasting is available seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Wild Winds Buffalo Preserve

Wild Winds Buffalo Preserve

Wild Winds has more than 400 acres of rolling Indiana prairie, natural waterways, lakes, birds and is home to approximately 250 bison. Tours are available via open-air vehicle or by horseback. The log-hewn bed and breakfast offers unique lodging, along with safari tents out in the fields. Stop in the gift shop for buffalo meat and hand-crafted items. Each spring and fall, Wild Winds hosts a free popular rendezvous, an 1840’s encampment.
